Our client a worldwide, leading manufacturer of Imaging information systems are looking to appoint a Cable & Harness Assembler to work at their head office in Lewes East Sussex where they design and development, and do the majority of production.

Key Objectives
Responsible for cable and harness assembly to required levels of quality and efficiency, whilst ensuring all housekeeping requirements and safety guidelines are adhered to.

Health and safety
oWhen required, operate materials handling equipment such as pallet trucks following health and safety procedure at all times.

Ensure work areas are kept safe and hazard free and report any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures to supervision.
Essential Skills
Understanding of relevant procedures, engineering drawings and product codes
Experience of using hand tools (crimp tools, wire strippers)
Experience of soldering, cable preparation and crimping
Enthusiastic and able to use own initiative
Knowledge of company systems and policies
Flexibility where appropriate
Attention to detail
Good hand skills and eyesight
A thorough awareness of any safety issues
May be required to inspect product accordingly
Desired Skills
IPC/WHMA-A-620 Training on Acceptability of Cable & Wire Harnesses
IPC-A-610 Training on Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
Experience of using automated crimping equipment and exchanging applicators
Tasks and Duties
All aspects of cable harness production and the use of both manual and automated equipment to complete the following: cutting wires to length, stripping wires to expose internal conductors, splicing and terminating wires, crimping and securing cabling into connector housings.
Soldering wires to plated through hole assemblies.
Interpreting engineering drawings to complete product to the required specification.
Handling and transporting work-in-progress and completed assemblies from staging locations to completed storage locations, using manual handling techniques and organisation skills to store the product appropriately.
Logging and reporting daily tasks to the production supervisor
Contributing to other daily activities such as emptying recycling waste and emptying excess cable waste.
