Pay 17 – 19.80/hour

A global organisation is developing within the healthcare space, setting up COVID-19 testing centres in various locations in order to support the current pandemic. They are now looking to bring on board a Clinical Laboratory Scientist based at their Manchester site.

The role:
Act as Shift Manager, working closely with the senior leaders of the laboratory
Perform all laboratory testing necessary for diagnosis
Be responsible for overseeing, reviewing and releasing laboratory testing performed by laboratory technicians and reporting results in a timely and accurate manner
Analyse clinical laboratory tests following the standard methods and procedures
Ensure equipment and instruments remain in good operating condition, recognize any malfunctions and troubleshoot as needed
Maintain updated understanding and knowledge of methods performed in the lab and train others on specialized instructions and protocols
Recognize, document, and escalate protocol deviations in lab to the laboratory director and/or laboratory supervisor
Ensure compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through proper documentation

You:
Have extensive experience in a clinical laboratory setting or acute care facility working as a Medical Technologist or equivalent. Working experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) would be desirable
Valid Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Knowledge of biology, microbiology and immunology at a level required in medical technology
BSc in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
Knowledge and practice of standard precautions policies related to handling of potentially infectious agents
Knowledge of safety procedures relating to operation of laboratory equipment and handling of chemicals
Experience analyzing and interpreting test procedures and results in order to determine appropriate correction action
Experience with PCR, qPCR
Good understanding of COSHH regulations and Health and Safety requirements
Experience operating at CL2 laboratory or above
