7 month contract (Start Date 1st September)
Pay 22-25/hour

As part of a partnership with other leaders in the life science industry, this global pharmaceutical business is looking to create a world-leading capability for diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2 infection. As part of this they are looking to recruit multiple Molecular Biology Scientists to work in the diagnostic facility being setup. This facility is using high throughput COVID-19 testing using Reverse Transcriptase-PCR (RT-PCR) methodology to test thousands of patient samples a day.

We are looking for molecular biologists with experience in RT-PCR to develop and implement technology and process improvements. These roles will involve the design and execution of various experimental strategies to optimise and improve the existing diagnostic testing workflow, to include experiments to look at novel methods of virus inactivation, novel PCR methods and experiments to assess sample pooling.

These roles will require individuals to work in teams of two-three scientists with experience of molecular biology techniques, of the use of laboratory automation, the execution of RT-PCR experiments and the use of laboratory software systems. Applicants should be comfortable performing this work using PPE within Class 2 microbiology safety cabinets. These roles will be equipped with the required PPE for the level of exposure and will have to strictly adhere to the specific Test Centre SOPs.

Experience of working in BSL2 lab with previous experience of aseptic technique preferred.
Experience working with human biological specimens.
Experience working with samples which may contain SARS-Cov-2
Experience in molecular biology techniques
Attention to detail to ensure chain of custody of all samples
Working and communicating across a fast-paced cross organisational team.
Strictly following SOPs.
