CPL Life Sciences are working with a client driven by the purpose to protect, heal and nurture in a relentless pursuit of a cleaner, healthier world. The clients Global Indirect Procurement function is responsible for all our sourcing of non-production spend materials and services that are managed on a global basis to support our operations worldwide. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be part of a small team of lawyers reporting to the Head of Legal, Global Procurement (Health), who work in close partnership and collaboration with the Global Indirect Procurement function to advise and support on legal risks, with a particular focus on our media-buying, marketing, global outsourcing, IT and other strategic services relationships.
Role responsibility:
- Advising on a broad range of multi-jurisdictional and business critical media, marketing, IT services and other commercial agreements
- Working alongside the category buyers and the relevant business stakeholders, you will provide commercially orientated legal and strategic advice, including in relation to matters of contract law, IP and IT issues and contractual disputes
- Collaborating closely with the Group Compliance Team on data protection, privacy and competition issues
- Raising awareness around key legal and commercial risks and supporting the implementation and embedding of global legal and compliance policies and sustainability goals
- Managing external counsel in respect of specialist issues and disputes
- Facilitating improved processes and ways of working, promoting contract simplification and supporting the innovate use of technology to simplify and improve the provision of legal services
Experience required:
- 4+ years PQE, qualified lawyer – English law
- Proven experience as a senior leader within a large global business
- Substantial experience of drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial, media, outsourcing and IT law gained in private practice at a prominent firm or in-house at a leading international business
- Experience of GDPR and broader data privacy laws
- A self-starter who can work independently but also thrive working as part of a wider team, in a dynamic and fast-moving environment
- Ability to build strong relationships and credibility with experienced internal and external business and legal stakeholders
