UK Business Development Manager
(CRISPR gene editing specialist)

** Please note, for this role it is crucial you have experience of CRISPR. Ideally this is within a sales environment or from a hands on laboratory environment**

After trebling in size in the last 3 years, our well-known gene editing client is continuing to expand across the U.S & Europe. This role is a new addition to the UK business development team.

Interested in getting out of the lab? Providing you have a solid scientific understanding of CRISPR techniques, our client is happy to provide the tools and training to help you develop that into a consultative selling approach.

Develop a detailed strategic plan to manage your territory; maintain, protect, and grow your business for both short and long-term revenue growth
Ensure that the quarterly and annual sales targets are achieved for the assigned territory
Generating and following up on leads in the UK market
Identify your customers needs, goals and challenges, and provide solutions to these through the proper positioning of company products, services, knowledge and expertise; inform, train and influence customers
Manage UK CRISPR market forecast and pipeline
Know and be known by your customers; maintain a regular presence within your territory
Follow-up on leads, close action items and customer requests completely and in a timely fashion
Secure targeted meetings to identify and advance opportunities with your customers
Identify and map the key stakeholders and decision makers around projects and opportunities in your territory
Create and deliver presentations; coordinating appropriate resources for customer visits
Lead and organize internal partners around presenting to, or supporting your customers; provide input and direction on content, customer needs, drivers, audience profile, etc.

As mentioned throughout, knowledge of CRISPR techniques is vital to this role.
Previous business development/sales/commercial experience preferred but not essential
Candidates must however be able to display a commercial acumen
Masters degree or equivalent required in related scientific discipline; degree in biological or chemical sciences
Previous experience in contract or services negotiations, or licensing iis ideal
Experience in mammalian expression/bioproduction systems and/or gene therapy and/or virology would be an advantage

PhD or equivalent required in related scientific discipline
Some hands-on CRISPR laboratory experience preferred (essential if candidates do not have a CRISPR sales/BD track record)
Knowledge of the UK healthcare markets
Entrepreneurial spirit, assertive and can manage abstract commercial situations
Ability to understand highly technical scientific concepts
Excellent understanding of pharma and biotech drug discovery and manufacturing process
Stakeholder management & relationship building – candidates will need to demonstrate the characteristics needed to acquire, grow and retain clients
Experience developing and executing strategic business plans
Demonstrated experience in presenting to senior levels of the client organization
Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and through presentations
The ability to travel up to approximately 50% of the time on occasions
