Be Part of Research – Clinical Trials Day 2019

be_part_of_research_logoThis year, International Clinical Trials Day (ICTD) 2019 takes place on 20 May and to mark the occasion, the National Institute for Health Research NIHR will be introducing its new Be Part of Research campaign.

The intention of the campaign is to promote involvement in research to patients, carers and the public. The campaign will also coincide with the introduction of a new Be Part of Research website which will allow those wanting to find out more about relevant clinical trials to search by therapeutic area or location.

In 2017/2018 an astounding 835,904 people participated in research supported by the NIHR Clinical Research Network and other research infrastructure and campaigns such as “Be Part of Research” are vital for boosting awareness of clinical trials and assist with patient recruitment. Although recent reports have stated that there are still vast numbers of eligible patients not realising they can enrol onto trials.

To launch the campaign there will be events in the lead up and on International Clinical Trials Day on Monday 20 May which will be hosted by the NIHR as well as local NHS trusts.  These events will provide opportunities for patients, carers and the public to talk to healthcare professionals about how they can become involved in research and how they can be a part of improving healthcare for the future.

To show your support, share stories and build awareness of health and care research, the NIHR have asked for patients, carers and the public to pledge their support in a range of ways. You can follow the links to join in…
