Clinical Professionals Group Celebrates Easter with Charity Egg Hunt
The Clinical Professionals Group are delighted to announce we have raised over £130 for Bloodwise!
Bloodwise, originally known as Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, is one of the UK’s leading charities for blood cancer research. The charity was first set up in 1960 by the Eastwood family, who upon losing their 6-year-old daughter to leukaemia, set up the first volunteer branch of the research fund.
Since that first branch was established that charity has grown into a national organisation with over 150 local fundraising groups and six offices situated around the UK, and has raised over half a billion pounds.
The Bloodwise community is made up of numerous staff, patients, researchers, fundraisers, families and medical staff who all help to progress industry leading research for blood cancer whilst providing support and care for patients and their families.
Blood cancer is a term that is used to describe various types of cancers that affect blood, bone marrow or the lymphatic system, it includes three main types; leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. In most blood cancers, affected blood cells stop developing normally and become cancerous, leading to too much and not enough of the original type of cell. This leads to various complications such as fighting off infections.
Blood cancer is the fifth most common cancer within the UK, every 14 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer or a related disorder. Which equates to almost 38,000 people every year.
To aid fund raising activity Clinical Professionals held charity bake sales in the London and Reading office, where employees dedicated their time and effort to create some amazing and delectable baked good to entice donations.
In addition to the bake sales we also held a charity Easter egg hunt with numerous chocolate eggs up for grabs! Consultants donated £3 and then scoured the office searching for lucky straws to trade in for their prize, either a much-desired chocolate Easter egg…or a mystery prize.
Over the Easter period Clinical Professionals will be shut from Friday 14th March to Monday 16th.
