Training Academy 2019 – 17 installments and counting!
As it is Healthcare Science Week we would like to shout out about our fully funded, award winning Graduate Training Academy for those looking to get their first in industry role within clinical trials. We are extremely proud that it has Science Council employer champion status and has won multiple industry awards for innovation.
The Clinical Professionals Group launched the Training Academy in 2015 as a service to the Life Sciences industry in the UK. Having identified a lack of newly trained graduates entering industry in Clinical Drug Development, Clinical Professionals designed a fully funded and comprehensive training programme for Life Sciences graduates wishing to embark on a career within clinical drug development.
We are currently recruiting for our 17th Academy taking place in April and we have 3 more planned for later in the year. We have successfully placed over 100 graduates into industry first roles in Pharma, Medical Devices, CRO and Academic/NHS Research Institutes. The 7-day training programme offers graduates all of the required theoretical knowledge, skills and attributes to excel in their chosen career and is aimed at roles within clinical trials rather than scientific or manufacturing focussed roles.
The modular training course is tailored to entry level Life Sciences graduates wishing to pursue a career within the core functional areas of a clinical trial; e.g. CTA (Clinical Trial Administrator), Regulatory Administrator, PV Associate, Data Manager, Medical Information Associate, and Quality Assurance Associate.
In the latest Clinical Professionals Industry Analytics Report, which took an in-depth look at vacancy data for the Clinical sector across UK and Europe, there is a distinct demand than ever for professionals working within clinical trials.
For instance the report highlighted that there was a 31% increase in vacancies in 2018 when compared to 2017, showing that there has been strong continuous growth for the UK clinical trial base, despite all the recent industry uncertainty following Brexit.
Even more so was CRO’s (Clinical Research Organisations) who experienced the majority of the growth with approximately 63% increase year on year, highlighting further demand for flexibility and contract working within the industry.
With such a high demand for professionals working within clinical trials in the UK that appears to be growing more year on year, it is clear that training schemes such as the Clinical Professionals Training Academy will be vital for the maintaining and progressing the industry for years to come.
